The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yenagoa,Bayelsa State  has dismissd the petition filed by the Change Advocacy Party CAP for lack of merit.

The Governorship candidate of Change Advocacy Party CAP in the February 2012 election Dr Imoro Kubor has gone to the tribunal seeking for the disqualification of Dickson on the grounds that he was not qualify to contest for the position as the case was before an appeal court in Abuja.

CAP also said in the petition that Dickson was sued in a court in Abuja restraining him from contesting in the February 2012 governorship polls and therefore was not qualify for the polls.

Delivery the judgement by a three man panel led by Muhammed Ibrahim said the court has no rights to determined who a political party should sponsor in an election, the tribunal however declared that the petition lacks merit and is hereby dismissed.

The tribunal noted that the PDP submitted the names of the first respondent,Seriake Dickson as their candidate to INEC for the 2012 polls in Bayelsa State.

According to the judgement, whenever there is an intra party dispute before the court, the court should seek the political party rules and regulations on selection of candidates

Supporters of both parties besieged the court premises as early as seven in the morning to witness the ruling amidst tight security checks.
