Says the Social Contract is beginning to make impact on the
Nigerian people
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Sunday
congratulated Governor Adams Oshiomhole for his overwhelming victory at
Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, expressing joy that the concept
of the Social Contract in governance was beginning to make an impact on the
Nigerian people.
Governor Fashola told newsmen at an interview, during an
inspection of the State’s urban regeneration projects in Obalende and Apapa,
that the victory of Governor Oshiomhole was a demonstration of the peoples’
value for the Social Contract as kept by the Governor adding that it was not a
question of whether or not Oshiomhole would win the election but by what
margin.
“For too long, our people have suffered bad governance.
The Social Contract is beginning to make its impact. You remember when I went
to Edo State; I was talking about the Social Contract. We have seen it here in
Lagos, we have seen it in Edo, and we have seen it in Ogun, Oyo, Osun and
Ekiti. People have replaced Governments that hadn’t worked for them”, the
Governor said.
The Governor said the victory of Governor Oshiomhole and
the Action Congress of Nigeria in Edo State, in spite of all the political bickering
of the old order in the State, speaks eloquently to the change that is sweeping
through the country.
He acknowledged that there was some anxiety as a result of
the “old order” but declared, “You know a building that is collapsing will make
a lot of noise before it finally hits the rubble, but this one has bit the
dust”
“Congratulations Governor Oshiomhole, congratulations
Action Congress of Nigeria and congratulations to good governance and deepening
of the Social Contract”, the elated Governor Fashola said.
