BENUE STATE GOVERNOR CONDOLES GOV. JANG OVER ATTACK

The Governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswan, has described last weekend's killings in Barkin/Ladi and Riyom local government councils as unfortunate and uncalled for.

Governor Suswan, who said he received the news with shock in London, made the disclosure in Jos when he paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang, at the governor's lodge, Du.

The governor also called on leaders at all levels to join hands and combat the menace of the recurrent level of insecurity in the country.

Responding, Governor Jonah Jang thanked him for the show of concern, saying the gesture shows his sincere support for peace in the country.

Governor Jang however, regretted that the incident has been on the rise despite frantic efforts to end the insurgence of crime not only in the state but also in some parts of the country.

Last weekend's killings in Jos also resulted in the death of Senator Gyang Dantong and the Majority Leader in the state house of Assembly.
