Former Governor of Lagos State and national leader
of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended
the Ogun State Government for the peaceful and credible local government
election which held in the state on Saturday.
Tinubu was speaking at the 4th Alhaji Kafaru Tinubu Memorial Ramadan Lecture in Lagos under the chairmanship of the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The ACN leader noted that "prior to the election, many had predicted that blood would flow freely. They said there will be mayhem and violence. But I thank Allah that the prediction of these dooms day prophets did not come to pass. The Local government election was held on Saturday and It went peacefully without any hitch.

'I want to also congratulate Senator Amosun for the manner he conducted the election. From the report I heard, the election was not only peaceful but also free and fair. I congratulate the governor for this and I want to ask for more prayers for him so that he can achieve greater success", he said.
Tinubu further urged all Muslims to use the fasting period to pray for the country and promote peaceful co-existence.
Governor Amosun stated that late Tinubu would be proud of how his family has chosen to remember him.
He said the thought provoking discussions being held in his name to enlighten muslims about their faith showed that even in death the late Tinubu was still relevant to the society. .
The governor congratulated the family for the consistency they have displayed in ensuring the Lecture holds annually with contemporary issues discussed.
He prayed that all Muslims will hold this years fast in good health. He advised Muslims to take advantage of the fasting period when the gates of hell are closed and that of heaven are opened to take in new entrants.
Professor Fatimoh Abdul Kareem who delivered the first lecture titled "When a Muslim Dies" said all Muslims must accept certain realistic facts. " That part of reality is that all of us cannot be the same. Some will be poor. Some will be rich. Part of reality is that only death is common. Death is a reality. It is Allah who gives life and takes it.
