Former Commander of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta,
Major-General Charles Omoregie (rtd), has warned against electoral fraud and
violence in the July 14 election.
General Omoregie, who is now Chairman, Edo State Neighbourhood
Watch Committee in a statement yesterday said “in view of the July 14
Governorship election in Edo State, the Edo State Neighbourhood Watch wishes to
advise members of the refrain from acts and activities that could jeopardize
the smooth conduct of the election. This advise has become imperative because
of the strategic importance to our nascent democracy.
“For the avoidance of doubt, anyone caught perpetuating violence
during and after the election will be made to full the full wrath of the law.”
