Workers and
artisans in Ondo State will on Tuesday trooped out in Akure
the State capital to hold a mega rally for the re-election of the incumbent
Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
The rally
which is to be coordinated by the national leadership of both the Nigerian
Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) would be addressed by
the President of NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar and his TUC counterpart,
Comrade
Peter Esele respectively at the Democracy Park in the State Capital. The duo
who were at the declaration rally of Dr Mimiko on July 25, this year would also
endorsed the Governor for second tem and enjoin workers in the State to ensure
Mimiko’s re-election at the poll this Saturday.
Tuesday’ s
rally which would be the third time to be held in support of Dr Olusegun Mimiko
by workers according to both the NLC and TUC was being organised following a
decision taken at their national executive council meetings to honour Dr
Olusegun Mimiko.
According to the State NLC Chairman,
Comrade Bose Daramola, both NLC and TUC want to ”celebrate Governor Olusegun
Mimiko for flying the Labour Party (LP) flag higher and for making the workers
proud in terms of workers’ welfare which is unprecedented in the history of
Nigeria.”
The NLC would be leading over 120 leaders
of all industrial unions under its congress while the TUC would lead over 38
leaders to the rally which would hold simultaneously with the LP mega rally in
Akure at the same venue.
The two unions therefore enjoined all
workers’ unions in the State, artisans and lovers of democracy and good
governance to come out and join the rally for Governor Mimiko’s re-election.
