The Finals of the 7th edition of the Lagos ‘HOS
Cup’ football competition in the male and female categories will hold on
Tuesday, 16th October, 2012 at the Agege Stadium, Agege, Lagos.
The competition is between Agencies in the Lagos State Public Service.
In the male category; the State Universal Basic Education Board
(SUBEB) will slug it out with the defending champion, the Lagos State Judiciary.
While in the female category, Office of Sports will play against the Ministry
of the Environment.
To qualify for the finals in the male category, the State
Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) edged out the Lagos State Environmental
Protection Agency (LASEPA) by 2-0. The Judiciary, however, beat the Office of
Sports by 3-0 to qualify for the final.
In the female category, the Office of Sports defeated the State
Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in the semi-final via penalty shootout by three goals to two
after a goalless draw at full time, While the Ministry of the Environment defeated the Office of Chief
of Staff 1-0.
In the third place match played last week, the Office of Sports
defeated the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency by a lone goal in the
male category while the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) defeated
Office of Chief of Staff via a walk over to clinch the bronze medal in the
female category.
The finals is the climax of the competition which started on Monday,
3rd September, 2012 with 50 Government Ministries, Departments
and Agencies (MDAs) including Local Governments and Local Council Development
Areas participating in the Male category and 24 MDAs participating in the
female category.
Previous winners of the competition in the Male Category included
the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development, (2006); Ministry of
Information and Strategy (2007); Lagos Television (2008); Lagos State Judiciary
(2009); Ministry of Transportation (2010) and Lagos Judiciary (2011).
In the Female
Category, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Social Development won it in 2006
Office of Chief of Staff in 2007; Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in
2009 and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in 2010 & 2011.
