Use Of Caretaker Administrator For Local Government Is Illegal - JEGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission has described the continued use of caretaker committees to administer the local government by eleven states in the country contrary to the provisions of the constitution.

The commission in a communiqué at the end of a two-day conference on Best Practices in Election Management in Abuja listed Abia, Bauchi, Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Kano, Katsina, Ondo, Osun and Oyo as states that had failed to conduct elections into the council areas.


It, therefore urged them to urgently do so without further delay.
