State Governors on the
platform of the All Progressives Congress yesterday failed to attend a meeting
called by President Goodluck Jonathan to find ways of tackling the security
challenges facing the country.
In attendance were fifteen
People’s Democratic Party governors, the governors of Anambra and Ondo states, two
PDP deputy governors and an acting governor.
The meeting presided over
by President Jonathan also had Vice President Namadi Sambo; Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim; and the National Security
Adviser, retired colonel Sambo Dasuki amongst others in attendance.
Although the outcome of
the meeting was not disclosed, Akwa Ibom state Governor Godswill Akpabio told
newsmen that the meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday next week.
