The Federal High Court in Lagos
has ordered the immediate release of the passport of suspended CBN Governor Sanusi
Lamido seized by the State Security Services SSS.
Presiding judge Justice Ibrahim
Buba also ordered the respondents in the suit including the police to pay fifty
million naira to Sanusi Lamido as exemplary damages.
In adding to restraining
the SSS and the police from arresting him, the court also ordered the
respondents to issue a public apology to the applicant for his unlawful arrest,
harassment, intimidation, withdrawal and seizure of his passport.
The court further held
that the respondents had nothing to offer against Sanusi Lamido’s denial of financial
terrorism adding that the security agencies were only singing discordant tunes
as afterthought.
