SENATE READ RIOT ACT TO EXECUTIVE OVER POOR IMPLEMENTATION OF 2012 BUDGET

The senate has vowed that it will no longer treat the poor implementation of the 2012 budget by the Executive as a family matter but use all necessary instruments at his disposal to enforce full implementations of the budget to the letter.

The Senate President, Senator David Mark stated this today at the botched public hearing on the alleged poor implementation of the budget.

Senator Mark who was represented by the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekeremadu faulted the claims by Finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala that the 2012 budget has been released to the tune of 56 percent while the actual performance stands at 21.5 percent according to the record before the senate.

Ekweremadu also decried failure by the Finance minister to honour invitations by the Senate on budget performance while mandating the Senate committee on Appropriation and the secretary to the government of the federation to ensure Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is brought before the upper chamber for questioning on Thursday.

The Senate leadership may have broken their silence following move by some group of Senators to move against their leadership over alleged undue romance with executive at the detriment of public interest.
