CBN TO INTRODUCE N5000 NOTE NEXT YEAR


The Federal Government is set to introduce a new 5000 naira note early next year as part of measures at modernising the Nigerian economy.

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria,Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who disclosed this in Abuja said three Nigerian women,Margaret Ekpo,Fumilayo Ransom-kuti and Hajia Gambo Sawaba would be the feature on the new note.

Sanusi told correspondent Victor Iroele that the new naira currency structure would now be 12-with the 50 kobo,N1,N2,N5,N10 and N20 as  coins and N50 to N5000 as notes.

The new redesigned N50 and N5000 notes will be launched early next year.
