Report
coming in from Bayelsa State says a fresh oil spill has occurred in
Nembe,a coastal community in the Niger Delta.
That the spill is
from a burst pipeline connected to Nembe 2 flow station,a facility belonging to Shell Petroleum and Development Company.
It was further
gathered that the spill is being traced to a leakage from a pipeline under the
creek at the Brass River.
Meanwhile the
people of Nembe kingdom have cried out loud over the refusal of Shell to clean
up the oil spill that occurred on the 15th and 17th of this month at Nembe 3
flow station.
Chairman of the
Nembe Oil and Gas Commmittee Nengi James says the matter has been reported to
Shell but no response adding that the spill have spread to other neighbouring
communities in the area.
Effort to get the
view of Shell Petroleum and Development Company on the issue was unsuccessful.
