Oyo has 7,000 ghost workers--Commissioner


No fewer than 7,000 ghost workers are currently drawing monthly salaries and allowances in the civil and public service of Oyo State.

The state Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Bosun Oladele who disclosed this in ibadan that the search for the ghost workers will be extended to local government workers and pensioners to fish out those who never worked in the civil service but are drawing pensions.

The Commissioner hinted that the state as of present has 38, 000 workers, pointing out that the resources from the federation account is inadequate to meet the overhead.

He however submitted that the state government will go extra mile through the internally generated revenue to jack up the state resources and tasked the citizenry to be ready to pay tax commensurate to their earnings.

Oladele explained that the review of the cases of the sacked workers is continuous and assured that the innocent is not punished.

The commissioner explained that the frequent foreign trips of the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi has been having its gains, adding that the trips has opened the radar for the state from development partners.
