The World Health Organisation, WHO, has officially certified Nigeria as a Guinea Worm Free Country.
The
Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu disclosed this while presenting
the WHO certificate of clean bill of health to President Jonathan at the State
House Abuja.
The
ceremony was held during the first Federal Executive Council meeting of the
year.
President
Jonathan who described the certification as a centenary gift to Nigeria said
government would also intensify efforts in eradicating other disease such as
polio.
