One of the new secretariat complex of the All
Progressive Congress APC located at Edepie in Tombia Roundabout in the state
capital Yenagoa has been earmarked for demolition by the Bayelsa State
Government.
A Government House Statement signed by the Chief
Press Secretary to the Bayelsa State Governor Daniel Iworiso Markson said
the building has long been earmarked for demolition alongside other
structures, to make way for the second fly-over bridge to be constructed around
the area.
The statement added that the State Government
has already set aside the sum of one billion naira for the payment of
compensation to owners of properties to be affected by the project.
The statement said the exercise is not to witch
hunt anybody or group of persons, but purely intended to bring about infrastructural
development to the State capital in line with the Restoration agenda of
Governor Seriake Dickson.
