NEMA Presents Relief Materials To Widows Of Slain Soldiers


The National Emergency Management Agency has presented relief materials to widows of slain soldiers in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in Maiduguri.

The Director, Search and Rescue of the agency, Air Commodore Chris Otegba, presented the materials to the GOC of seven-Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri Maj.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun.

He said the president directed that NEMA should lend support to the widows of slain soldiers in addition to what it has been providing to Internally Displaced Persons to boost the morale of soldiers currently uprooting the insurgents.

SSS Restores Speaker Tambuwal Security Details


Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal arrived at the National Assembly with the full complement of his State Security Service details today.

This is the first time they would be providing security cover for the Speaker since they were withdrawn more than four months.

On arrival the Speaker declined to comment on the latest development as the security men hurriedly led him into his office.

NDLEA Arrests Single Mother For Inserting Heroin In Her Private Part


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested an Aba-based thirty one-year-old single mother for concealing four hundred and thirty grammes of heroin in her Private part in a bid to avoid arrest.

The arrest took place at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos during the inward screening of passengers on an Emirate flight.

NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Hamza Umar while commenting on the incident said that the arrest was facilitated with the aid of scanning machines.

Preliminary investigation carried out by the NDLEA indicates that the suspect has established link with some Pakistani drug traffickers who sponsored her trip in collaboration with some local accomplices.

APC Asks President Jonathan To Come Clean Over Nigeria-Morocco Diplomatic Row


The All Progressives Congress has asked the Jonathan-led Administration to come clean with Nigerians on the cause of the ongoing diplomatic row between Nigeria and Morocco that has forced the Kingdom to recall its Ambassador to Nigeria, while portraying Nigeria as a liar.

In a statement issued in Lagos by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said President Jonathan must in particular clarify the thorny issue of whether or not he spoke with King Mohammed of Morocco.

The Party said, in effect, Morocco has called Nigeria a liar and it therefore behoves President Jonathan to personally intervene to address such an international embarrassment.

The APC added that until President Jonathan cleared the air, all Nigerians, irrespective of their political leanings, will remain liars in the eyes of the international community.

Fuel Scarcity Hits Parts Of Nigeria


Fuel scarcity has hit parts of the country including the Federal Capital Territory.

Major oil marketers had reduced fuel imports over unpaid two hundred and sixty four billion naira subsidy arrears.

The NNPC has in the meantime warned against panic buying, adding the current scarcity was artificial.

The Corporation said it had injected six hundred and eighty eight million litres of the product into the system.

The Supreme Court has ordered the retrial of former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye for alleged corruption.

He is to face a twenty three count charge of corruption brought against him by the EFCC at an FCT High Court.

I.S Is Recruiting Young Nigerians – FG


The Federal Government has expressed concern over various moves by Islamic State to recruit young Nigerians.

Co-ordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri who raised the alarm in Abuja urged parents to monitor the movement of their children.

He said the military has so far recaptured more than thirty towns and communities from the Boko Haram insurgents.


Ebonyi State Assembly Serves Governor Elechi Impeachment Notice



The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has served Governor Martin Elechi an impeachment notice for alleged misconduct.

The Acting Leader of the House, Francis Nwufrune who read the impeachment note accused Governor Elechi of financial misappropriation, undermining the integrity of the House, among other offence.

Governor Elechi has not been in good terms with PDP leaders following the alleged manipulation that prevented a former Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu from becoming the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

PDP Sets To Expel Governor Martin Elechi For Alleged Anti Party Activities


The leadership of the PDP in Ebonyi has said Governor Martin Elechi would be suspended or expelled outrightly from the party by the national leadership for alleged anti party activities.

The Party’s State Secretary Benjamin Obaji accused Governor Elechi of secretly working for the Labour Party.

He said the governor deliberately stayed away from the flag off of the PDP’s campaign in the state.

Governor Elechi is apparently not pleased with the way his preferred governorship aspirant and former Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu was treated by the PDP.

Former Anambra State Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju Defects To APC


A former governor of Anambra State, Chinwoke Mbadinuju has defected from the PDP to APC.

The former governor who announced his defection in Abuja expressed anger at the treatment he and his supporters received from PDP.

He said he was confident that an APC administration with Muhammadu Buhari as President would improve the fortunes of Nigeria.


According to Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Nigeria was experiencing the Boko Haram menace because of its decision of its decision to embrace injustice instead of promoting fairness and justice.

The Senior Special Assistant to Pastor E.A Adeboye, Leke Adeboye who disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos said that the praise concert is aimed at making worship a long lasting spiritual experience that would continue, even after the programme itself.

Leke also explained that this year edition will start by 2 PM Nigeria time from Monday 2nd March till Thursday 5th and it will feature the Holy Spirit alongside with More than 60 Worship leaders; Marathon Messiah's Praise Team (Mass Choir), about a 1,000 volunteer’s workforce and multitude of Worshippers all in one venue.

The event is put together by the Redeemed National Youth Council.

The APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari says he will inherit a huge debt profile and empty treasury if elected president on March twenty eight.

He however said he has the experience to turn around Nigeria’s economy.

According to him, all the palliatives applied by the government to save the nation’s declining economy have not worked.

Nigerian Air Force Bomb Sambisa Forest


The Defence Headquarters says a combined operation by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and the ground troops have resulted in the death of a large number of insurgents at the dreaded Sambisa Forest enclave of the Boko Haram and parts of Gwoza.

The Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said in a statement that the air strikes which hit targets with precision inflicted a heavy casualty figure on the insurgents.

He said strikes targeted the training facilities and logistic dumps of the insurgents.

Major General Olukolade said several of the insurgents were scampering all over the areas hit by the fighter jets in Sambisa.

Nigerian Army Frees 158 Women And Children Abducted By Boko Haram


About one hundred and fifty eight women and children abducted by Boko Haram have reunited with their families.

The abductees were captured in Katarko town in Gujba Local Area of Yobe state following an attack by the insurgents on the town.

After regaining freedom, the abductees were made to undergo rehabilitation by security agents before they were eventually released to the Yobe state government.

Presenting the victims to their family members, chairman of the state committee on rehabilitation and resettlement of the Insurgents victims Ahmed Goneri said the one hundred and fifty-eight persons made up of sixty-two adult, ninety-six children were abducted late last year.

Chairman of Gujba local government area Kyari Batarama called for sustained security measures towards liberating the towns still under the control of Boko Haram. 

APC Vows To Go Ahead With Campaign In Okrika Rivers State


The APC in Rivers state says it will still hold its governorship campaign rally in the volatile Okrika area of the state despite an attack by unknown gunmen who unleashed mayhem on party supporters on Tuesday.

The State APC Chairman, Doctor Davis Ikanya told newsmen in Port Harcourt that since Okrika was part of Port Harcourt, it was paramount for the party to speak to the people of the area about the programme of its governorship candidate.

Doctor Ikanya said it was wrong to prevent other political parties other than the Peoples Democratic Party from campaigning in Okrika, adding that the APC would not be intimidated.

President Jonathan Gave Pastors 7 Billion Naira



A Borno-based Pastor, Kallamu Musa-Dikwa says the money that was given to pastors by President Jonathan was actually seven billion naira and not six billion naira as alleged by Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who doubles as the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Governor Amaechi had alleged that unnamed leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party paid six billion naira to Christian clerics to campaign against General Buhari and the APC.

Pastor Musa-Dikwa, who is the Executive Director of the Voice of Northern Christian Movement, told journalists in Kaduna that the said money was channelled through the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

He said CAN got the said money on January twenty six, twenty fifteen and disbursed three million naira to each State Chairmen of CAN across the country.

Mikel Obi To Miss Tonight's Champions League Game Against PSG


Paris Saint-Germain have a number of injury concerns ahead of tonight’s Champions League game against Chelsea in the first leg of their last-sixteen tie.

Four players suffered injuries in their two-all draw with Caen at the weekend, as Yohan Cabaye, Marquinhos and Serge Aurier all went off injured in the game, while Lucas had a groin problem.

Diego Costa returns from suspension for The Blues and he will be available for selection.

John Mikel Obi might not feature in tonight’s game because of a knee problem.

Super Eagles To Play Black Stars Of Ghana In An International Friendly


The Super Eagles will play the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly game fixed for March 29 in London.

The Nigeria Football Federation secured the friendly game to engage the Super Eagles and to ensure that the FIFA free window is utilised.

The Super Eagles will first play in a friendly game against Bolivia at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom on March 26.


Obasanjo Is An Embarrassment To The Nigerian Military - Defence Headquarters


The Nigerian military has criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo describing him as an embarrassment to the force he once served.

A statement by the Defence Headquarters on its Facebook page said the retired general constituted a serious embarrassment to the military before everyone with reasonable judgment of the values and standard to statesmanship.

The Defence Headquarters said the comments credited to Chief Obasanjo alleging that the postponement of the General Elections was to enable President Jonathan to use the Service Chiefs to plot a tenure extension is to say the least, very surprising.

The military added that most of his utterances lately indicated an attitude of playing to the gallery or indulging in politicization of serious national security or military affairs.

Obasanjo who has criticised President Goodluck Jonathan and his government, said the postponement of the elections was to further the interest of the president.

The Use Of The Armed Forces To Conduct Elections Is Illegal - Court Of Appeal


The Appeal Court in Abuja has held that the use of Armed Forces to conduct elections is a violation of the nineteen ninety nine constitution and the Electoral Act.

The Court therefore barred the use of the military in the conduct of future elections in the country.

The appellate court held that whoever unleashed soldiers on Ekiti for the June twenty first, twenty fourteen governorship election violated the constitution.


The court was delivering judgment in the appeal by the APC against the election of Governor Ayo Fayose.

Fayose Was Validly Elected As Governor - Court Of Appeal


The Appeal Court has upheld the election of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose after dismissing the appeal of the APC.

In his reaction, Governor Fayose described the court decision as a triumph of the will of the people.

He urged former Governor Kayode Fayemi to accept defeat.

Explosions Rocks APC Governorship Rally In Okrika Rivers State


Three explosions today rocked the venue of the APC’s governorship rally in Okirika, Rivers state.

This was followed by gun shots around the venue which left supporters in panic while some ran for safety.

Reports say unknown gangs had earlier almost caused a situation of stampede when people started running to save their lives before security agents took control after which the campaign started before the reported explosions.

However, security agents were said to have secured sound equipment and other property as at the time of filling this report.

Nigeria Moves 1 Place Up In Latest FIFA Ranking


Nigeria has moved 1 place up in the latest FIFA rankings.

It is now 42 in the world and seventh in Africa.

Ivory Coast moved up 8 places to twentieth in the world and second in Africa.

Algeria remains number 1 in Africa while Nations Cup runner-up Ghana moved up twelve places to twenty fifth in the world and third in Africa.

Germany maintained its number 1 rankings in the world ahead of Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Boko Haram Has Moved New Recruits In Borno - FG


The Federal Government has said that Boko Haram has moved new recruits to training camps in Borno State.

Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, who disclosed this urged the people to be vigilant.

He said the Federal Government would check the activities of the sect and secure the North-East for the forthcoming elections.

INEC Can Deliver - PDP


The national leadership of the PDP has said it has confidence in the Chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega.

The National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu stated this at a news conference in Abuja which was attended by some PDP governors.

Alhaji Muazu’s position is contrary to that of the spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who accused the INEC Chairman of holding meetings with some APC leaders in Dubai.

The PDP National Chairman said his party was not responsible for the postponement of the general elections.

Female Suicide Bomber Kills 5 People In Borno State



A female suicide bomber has struck a market in Biu in Borno state killing five people.

Reports say the device exploded as the woman was stopped near the market.

Elsewhere in Potiskum, Yobe State, an attempted suicide bombing was foiled outside the campaign office of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam. 

Niger State Governor Bars Deputy From State Council Meeting


Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has barred his deputy Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto from the state executive council meeting for defecting from the PDP to the APC.

The governor accused the deputy of calling him a thief during a campaign rally by the APC.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebiye said the action was taken to prevent Alhaji Ibeto from revealing strategies of the PDP to the APC.

The Deputy Governor said the Governor has no power to stop him from attending the state executive council meeting.

Interim Government Is Illegal - FG


The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke says there is no provision for interim national government in the nation’s constitution.

The Minister stated this in a statement in reaction to calls by some Nigerians for an interim national government.

He said framers of the nineteen ninety nine constitution did not envisage the establishment of an Interim National Government to pilot the affairs of the nation.

INEC Was Forced To Cancel Poll - Buhari


The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari says the Independent National Electoral Commission should not be blamed for the poll shift since it was forced to postpone the February general elections.

He told a news conference in Abuja that the decision has strengthened the party's resolve and commitment to rescue the country from the current economic and social collapse.

Muhammadu Buhari appealed to Nigerians to remain calm in spite of the postponement. 

May 29th Handover Date Remains Sacrosanct - President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that the May twenty-nine handover date remains sacrosanct as it is the terminal date of his first term in office.

The president in a statement by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, said the adjustment by the INEC should be accepted by Nigerians as necessary decision to ensure that Nigerians are not disenfranchised.

He called for support from the international community and civil society organisations, adding that this is not a time to trade blames or make statements that may overheat the polity, but a time to show understanding and support the electoral commission to conduct successful elections.

Sensational Ivory Coast Wins 2015 AFCON


The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire have won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations’ final after defeating the Black Stars of Ghana 9-8 on penalties in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

The two West African countries had played goalless in both regulation and extra times and had to settle the match through penalties.

Elephants goal tender Barry Copa became the hero of the Ivorian team, saving Stars goalkeeper Razak’s penalty kick while scoring his against the Ghana keeper for the last kick.

The Elephants equally defeated the Black Stars in 1992 in Senegal to win their first competition.

USA Condemns Election's Postponement


The United States has condemned the postponement of the general elections by the INEC.

Secretary of State John Kerry in a statement said the U.S is deeply disappointed by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February fourteen.

He said the international community will be watching closely as the federal government prepares for elections on the newly scheduled dates.

Also, the United Kingdom says the decision by INEC to delay the presidential election because of the security situation was a cause for concern.

British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond said in a statement that it was vital that the elections were kept on track and held as soon as possible in accordance with international norms.

VPAL Music will release his debut album.
