The Defence Headquarters
says it takes the issue of human rights violation seriously and will never
condone any proven case of abuse by its personnel.
The Director of Defence
Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, in a statement said the military is
deeply concerned about the video footages being circulated which Amnesty
International referred to in its latest report on human rights violations by
the Nigerian Army in the fight against Boko Haram.
The defence spokesman said
the military had set up an investigation team to study the allegations by the
international human rights body in its latest report saying much of the scenes
depicted in the videos are alien to the Nigerian military operations and
doctrines.
