The police have also confirmed
that a female suicide bomber blew herself up outside a university in Kano after
they prevented her from carrying out an attack, injuring five officers.
The force said a female
suicide bomber was isolated as she was walking towards the gate of the
university, adding that she had hidden the bomb under her long black head cover.
Still on Kano blasts, the
Police have arrested five male suspects for their complicity in bomb attacks in
the ancient city, including the Sunday bomb blast at Saint Charles Catholic
Church in which at least five people were killed and eight were injured.
According to a statement
by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, two of the suspects were
arrested in connection with the foiled bomb attack at Isyaku Rabiu Mosque.
He said the attack on the
church came shortly after the end of mass, when the suspects were believed to
have thrown Improvised Explosive Devices at the church located in Sabongari
area of the ancient city.
