The Liberian man Patrick
Sawyer who died of Ebola virus in Lagos had contact with fifty nine people.
The Lagos State
Commissioner for Health, Doctor Jide Idris who announced this said that twenty
of those people, including health workers, ECOWAS staff and airport officials
have been physically screened.
He told newsmen at Alausa
that government was yet to get the airline manifest to ascertain the precise
number of people he had contact with.
Liberian has in the
meantime closed all its border crossings to prevent the spread of the Ebola
Virus.
Doctor Idris said no
Nigerian is infected with the Ebola Virus so far, adding that all contacts were
being actively followed and urged Nigerians not to panic.
The Director of Nigerian
Centre for Disease Control, Professor Abdulsalam Nasidi said it is important to
categorise the contacts in order to prevent any possible outbreak in Nigeria.
