Eight of the fourteen
aspirants jostling for the Adamawa State Governorship election under the
Peoples Democratic Party have stepped down from the race.
They include Nuhu Ribadu,
Auwal Tukur, Aliyu Idi Hong, Andrawus Sawa, and James Barka.
Others who have withdrawn
from the race are Aliyu Kama, Markus Gundiri and Abubakar Girei.
This decision was taken at
the Presidential Villa, Abuja in the early hours of today after about four
hours of meeting with the fourteen aspirants by the leadership of the party
including the Senate President David Mark.
The six aspirants still in
the race for the party’s ticket on Saturday are Ahmed Gulak, Buba Marwa, Ahmed
Modibbo, Doctor Umar Ardo, Acting Governor Umaru Fintiri, and Jerry Kumdisi.
It was agreed at the
closed-door meeting that the six aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket
will not contest for the position in twenty fifteen.
