Suspected
members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect yesterday launched an attack on Bama
town in Borno State.
Soldiers
attached to the Nigerian Army barracks located in the town engaged
the insurgents in over an hour of heavy bombardment and eventually pushed the
militants back.
Reports say most residents
of the town, which is about sixty four kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno
State capital have fled their homes for fear that the insurgents might return
heavily armed on a retaliatory mission.
