The Defence Headquarters says an Alpha Jet belonging to the
Nigerian Air Force has disappeared in Adamawa State.
The
Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, said in a
statement that the aircraft, with two pilots on board, left Yola at about ten
forty-five in the morning on Friday on a routine operational mission and was
expected back at noon the same day.
According
to him, all efforts to establish contact with the aircraft have not yielded any
positive result.
Major-General
Olukolade said a search and rescue effort was ongoing to establish contact with
the crew.
