Forget Your Governorship Ambition! Ajimobi Tells Olajumoke Akinjide

Governor Abiola Ajimobi today asked the Minister of state for FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide to forget her governorship ambition until finishes his second term in Office.


The political rivalry was rekindled at the book launch of Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi in Ibadan

Governor Ajimobi, who spoke against the background of the speculated governorship ambition of Akinjide in 2015, will be 64 in December, while the minister will turn 54 in August this year.

Ajimobi said “If it is by four years that I am older than you, then you will become the governor of Oyo State after my four-year tenure. But if it is by eight years, then you will become the governor after my eight years in office.”

The event turned political when Governor Ajimobi arrived Wallan Hotel hall, venue of the event, cheered by well-mobilised supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), who chorused he should continue in office in 2015.

In an address, Governor Ajimobi commended Akinjide for the mature manner she played her politics, praying God to give her a higher position after her tenure as minister.

The governor said he was an apostle of politics without violence and told his supporters that he was not at the occasion for politics but to join other to honour the Alaafin and authors of the book written in his honour.
