President Jonathan At Father's Day Service; Urges State. Governors To Take Action On Cases Of Capital Punishment Before Them


President Goodluck Jonathan alongside prominent Nigerians celebrated Father's Day on Sunday at the Villa chapel, Presidential Villa , Abuja.

The President on the occasion charged Fathers in the country not to from disciplining their children as this was the only way they would turn out to be useful members of society

For the 2nd year in a row, President Jonathan is participating in a special programme on Fathers Day.

An elaborate programme of events included exchange of gifts to appreciate fathers and the President leading a choir of men in white to render a special number.

But these were merely precursors to the main thrust of the programme; the sermon delivered by which stressed that dishonesty practiced by men and women was at the root of the country's problems

The President's take on the matter is similar although he goes beyond asking. Fathers to provide good example to stressing that parents must discipline their children.
Furthermore, he challenges Governors of States to bite the bit and append their signatures to pending cases of capital punishment before them.
