Five years after his death, Political
godsons and associates of the Late Chief Lamidi Adedibu, today lamented that
the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has not been one after his demise.
They
said this in a five year remembrance prayer offered at his Molete residence.
The
acclaimed strong man of ibadan politics, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, a leader of the
Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State slumped and died on June 11, 2008
Adedibu,
81, died at the intensive care unit of the University College Hospital (UCH),
after he was brought in unconscious from the immigration office in Agodi where
he had slumped.
The
late strong man of Ibadan politics was alleged to have died of diabetes-related
ailment.
The
occasion featured a prayer session for the deceased and his family led by
Sheikh Suara Haruna, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland and the launching of Lamidi
Adedibu Foundation.
The
occasion was attended by Senator. Rasheed Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State,
Chief Lekan Balogun, Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland and Chief Lekan Alabi, the
Ikolaba Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Among
the dignitaries were Sen.Teslim Folarin, former Senate Leader, Chief (Mrs) Bola
Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief (Mrs) Kemi
Alao-Akala, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja.
Others
are Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji
Asimiyu Alarape, former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Chief Ayodele
Adigun, former Secretary to Oyo State Government.
