The Inspector General of Police,Mohammed Dikko Abubakar today described the move by the United States of America to track down leaders of militant groups involved in terrorism in West Africa as a welcome development.
A reward of seven million is offered for the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
Speaking with Journalists in Ibadan after commissioning of a 50-bed Ultra modern hospital at the 0yo Police Headquarters Eleyele, Abubakar said the development was welcome adding that tracking down Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and other groups which have been terrorising the West African region has been embraced by government
Despite this, Abubakar said that the Nigerian Police and other security agencies would not relent their efforts in fighting terrorism in all its ramifications
Disclosing that for better policing, IGP stated that better welfare is been given to men and officers of the force .
He disclosed that over 19,000 of them have been promoted in the last few months.
He however charged those in positions of authority to always do what was right in their relationship with their subordinates, realizing that a day would come when they would account for their stewardship.
This, he said, had served as a motivating factor for him as he took time to attend to every officer experiencing any health challenge, no matter how low his rank might be, anywhere in the country.
He said that the hospital would be replicated in other police formations across the country to cater for the health needs of officers and men of the Force, their families and indeed, the general public.
In his addres ,Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State attributed the peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed in the state to the dedication, commitment and gallantry of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police.
He saluted the Force for the giant strides in ensuring peace and security of the populace.
