IGP Meets With Commissioners, Urges Them To Sustain The Success Recorded Against Boko Haram


As this the federal government continued with its military campaign against  terrorists in three  northern  states of  the country, the Police Management Team has  urged state commissioners of police to perfect and sustain the success recorded against insurgents in the country.

Meeting with the force zonal commands and commissioners of police in Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar said the meeting was expected to come out with new strategies against all form of criminality, kidnapping and take bold steps to improve on the peace recorded in some state of the federation.

The police boss who said far reaching decision would be taken against reported cases of indiscipline and corruption within the force, exonerated the men of the force from blame over the alleged payment of ransom by families of those held hostage by kidnappers.


On the campaign of some politicians ahead of the 2015 general election, the IGP said the police might be compel to take action against any politician if his or her political activities are threatening peace and security in the country.

The Inspector General however declined to give details on the number of suspects arrested so far in connection with the killing of 60 security agents in Nassarawa state by the Omatse cult group.
