Vice President Namadi Sambo says the Federal Government is determined to ensure that all children of school going are have access to basic education
The Vice President who spoke on Friday at State House Abuja at a special programme for Almajiri education said the initiative would be extended to all parts of the country
Vice President Sambo however noted that the problem was not peculiar to the North alone as children of school age all over the country had problems accessing education
Commander of the Muslim faithful, Sultan of Sokoto Saad Abubakar the third is quick to remind all stakeholders gathered including officials at State and Federal level as well as Traditional rulers, that the problem is not an Islamic problem
There are different approaches to solving the problem, but the consensus between Rivers state Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema is that the comprehensively tackle the problem, government must tackle the issue of poverty
Still there are others, like Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Al-Makura who believe that believe access to education should be extended to Special groups like disabled persons
State House Correspondent KEHINDE AMODU reports that President Jonathan last month inaugurated the first Almajiri Model school in Sokoto to signify government's commitment to addressing a problem that has spiraled into the security challenges that are presently hounding the country
