No fewer than 50 persons were trapped and injured as the temporary bridge under contruction at Ayegun Bridge in Olomi area of Ibadan collapsed/gave way/cave-in owing to pressure.
Those affected were mainly students going to resume for school and workers heading for their offices.
They were rushed to St' Mary catholic Hospital, in Olomi-Academy area of Ibadan.
Though no life was was lost, today's incident is coming less than 24 hours when the bridge under construction at the Secretariat road cave-in washing away two cars and their occupants.
Our man also reports that apart from the pressure on the road, the heavy downpour last night may have contributed to the weakening of the temporal structure.
Oyo state government had awarded the contract to reconstruct Ayegun bridge some months ago.
Eye witness account told our man that the state government had temporarily repaired the bridge after the August 26th 2011,flood disaster that affect lives and property worth millions of naira in the state.
Residents in the area said one side of the bridge was closed down as the contractor were working on the closed part, saying that the pressure from the other side of the bridge caused the collapse this morning.
