Senate has reacted to a statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo alleging that some members of the seventh national assembly are rogues and criminals.
The Senate spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe at a news conference in Abuja urged the former number one citizen to make public the names of the questionable characters in the national assembly in the spirit transparency.
Abaribe said that a disclosure of criminals among federal legislature to put its house in order for the development of the nation's democracy.
The Senate Spokesman however noted that the National Assembly has great respect for the person of Former President Obasanjo and would always welcomes constructive suggestions from him as well as well-meaning individuals to enable it work well.
Correspondent reports that Obasanjo's allegation sequel to an earlier indictment on the federal law- making body by Senator Nuhu Aliyu of the sixth assembly hence the need for the National Assembly to weed itself from alleged criminals and rogues for a better image of the legislature as an institution.
