Reps suspend Faruk Lawan

The House of Representative has removed Hon Faruk Lawan as chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on subsidy regime. Lawan was also stripped off his function as Chairman Committee on Education. These decisions were taken at an emergency plenary session by the House on Friday.
Hon Faruk Lawan has been embroiled in a 620,000 dollar bribery scandal in the aftermath of the investigation of the Committee.

The lawmakers however passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and the leadership of the House.

The House also urged president Goodluck Jonathan and other anti graft agencies to proceed with the implementation of the subsidy report.
