At least eighteen people
have been killed and three others injured when some suspected detainees at the
State Security Service Headquarters in Abuja attempted to break out of the detention.
This led to a security
beef up around the presidential villa and other strategic government buildings
and locations in the Federal Capital Territory.
Spokesperson of SSS, Marilyn
Ogar who confirmed this in a statement said one of the suspects attempted to
disarm one of the officers who has gone to feed the inmates.
The statement said the
officers in the process fired some shots in the air.
It said three other detainees who sustained gunshot injury during the process have also died.
