Boko Haram has claimed
responsibility for the attack on a key military barracks in Maiduguri.
The claim was made in a
new video obtained by AFP by a man dressed in white, wearing black headgear and
carrying an assault riffle, describing himself as the group’s leader Abubakar
Shekau.
But the man appeared
younger, thinner and with different mannerisms from older videos, prompting
some people to believe that the real Abubakar Shekau may have actually been
killed.
The March barracks attack
resulted in the death of over two hundred Boko Haram fighters.
