Women Empowerment: President Jonathan Promises To Break New Barriers In Empowering Women; Challenges Women To Their Numbers In Elected Positions



President Goodluck Jonathan says he is willing to go beyond mere political appointments to break new grounds in ensuring the reduction of discrimination against women in government.

The President spoke  at the launch of a book put together by Petroleum Minister Diezani Allison Madueke entitled Goodluck Ebele Jonathan: Champion For Women.

He however challenged women to go beyond political appointments to ensure a larger were voted in to hold elective positions in government.


This book launch is not organized to make money rather it is put together to celebrate a man who has pushed further the frontiers of women empowerment in a country like Nigeria.

The Nigerian example showcases an increase in the number of women in government and they have been pushed into strategic Ministries of government which were hitherto the preserve of men.

It gives the two Female Presidents hope that they are just forerunners in a future that will see more women in the forefront of government on the Africa.
