IGP Urges Governor Ameachi To Write Him Over Alleged Unprofessional Conduct Of River State Commissioner Of Police

The crisis between the River State Governor Rotimi Ameachi and the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu may be far from being over as the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar said he cannot redeploy the commissioner untill a petition is written to him by the governor

Governor Amaechi had said in Port Harcourt that the state Police Commissioner had long abandoned his constitutional role of securing lives and property in the state, explaining that the crime situation in the state had risen.

Abubakar on Wednesday hinted that he has not received any official communication on allegation against the commissioner, stressing that he cannot take action on the matter untill the governor formally write the force on alleged unprofessional conduct of the state commissioner of police

Abubakar spoke yesterday at the 2013 Force CID Annual Award at the Force Headquarters in Abuja .

He said the eight police officers that were honoured had exhibited the finest ideals of bravery and professionalism in the discharge of their duties

Some of the awardees included CP Ogunsakin Tunde Johnson in charge of Special Fraud Unit in Lagos , CP Idris Farouk Umar, CP Anti Fraud Section Abuja, the DCP in charge of Interpol section Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi and DCP Chris Okey Ezike of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).
