Deliberations by the senate
on the State of the Nation Address Bill on Wednesday witnessed a stormy session
as senators were sharply divided on the bill.
President Goodluck Jonathan
had earlier withheld his assent on the state of the nation address bill passed
by the two chambers of the National Assembly.
The President argued that
the 1999 constitution had made provisions for the state of the nation address
adding that legislation on the matter would amount to duplication.
However attempt by some
senators to override the President’s veto led to a rowdy session in the senate.
