Court Dismisses Request By Rivers Speaker To Restrain Police From Arresting Him

Justice Adolphus Enebeli of a high court in Port Harcourt has dismissed a case instituted by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Otelemaba Dan Amachree to restrain the police from arresting or inviting him for questioning over his comment on alleged plan to assassinate Governor Amaechi.

In his judgment, Justice Enebeli said there is no legal justification to issue a perpetual injunction to restrain the police from investigating any citizen for an offence.

The court also said the allegation of bias leveled against the Rivers State Police Command is premature and cannot form a ground to restrain the police from carrying out its constitutional duties.
