Reactions On Emir Of Kano Attack


Reactions have continued trail the gun attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kano , Alhaji Ado Bayero  on Saturday, leaving about five dead and the Emir wounded by suspected members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC said  the attack has exposed the lie in the claim by the Federal Government that its security agencies have been able to curtail the activities of violent extremists.

The Labour Union in a statement signed by its Acting General Secretary, Christ Uyot, said the attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero has once again questioned the efficacy of security in the country and brings to the fore the urgent need for the reorganization of Nigeria’s internal security system

It lamented that the  militant activities seem to be growing in strength by the day, warning that Kano, being a major industrial city in the northern part of the country  should not be allowed to be held hostage by violent groups.

While advising security agents to live up expectation of providing security for Nigerians, the NLC
Said if the Emir can easily be attacked by the extremists, ordinary citizens will continue to live in fear and  the atmosphere of insecurity in the state and the country in general will grow deeper.

In the same vein, the FCT Minister  FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has condemned last Saturday’s attack of the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, describing it as ungodly and barbaric act. 

He said it was the height of wickedness for anybody to attack the royal father who he described as an epitome of peace, harmony and tolerance in Nigeria.

Speaking on Monday while declaring open the meeting of the FCT Executive Committee, the Minister said it was abominable for any person or group to attack a highly respected royal father and national icon like the Emir of Kano.

The FCT Minister prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the Emir, his children and aides quick recovery from the shock and wounds they suffered as a result of the nefarious attack.

He also called on the security agencies to do their best in ensuring that the perpetrators of the attack were apprehended and punished  according to the provisions of all relevant laws of the country
