Bayelsa Speaker's Mother Released



The Mother of the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Betinah Benson, kidnapped last week Monday, has been released.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Kings Omire, whoconfirmed the development told our correspondent on telephone inYenagoa, that the 78year –old woman was released to the familyrelations last night around Patani in Delta State.

Mr. Omire, who could not confirm if any ransom was paid to thekidnappers, said the woman was brought to his office by the family members.

Meanwhile the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly,Konbowei Benson, said his mother was released in good condition but had to make her go through thorough medical examination.

Mr.Benson,who said the family members were yet to over come the psychological trauma experienced during the 8 days kidnap period,expressed thanks to God for sparing the live of their mother.

 The Speaker however said no ransom was paid to the kidnappers to secure the release of his mother.
