Rector locked out as workers protest non-payment of allowances

The coalition of  Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnic and Non Academic Staff Union of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, has locked out the Rector of the institution, Mrs Theresa Akande.

This was coming barely a week after the Non Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic staged a protest that paralysed academic activities.

The irate workers also declared  indefinite industrial  action, to press home their demand.

This protestants were shouting war song and locked up the Main Gate of the institution and they claimed that the rector has been punishing them for non payment of their allowance which has necessitate their strike action.

Expert says since the rector has failed in the negotiation with the union that the union is free to go on indefinite strike and that the national body is in support of the strike action.

The Rector had ,however, debunked the allegation, saying the Federal Government had not approved the payment of theseallowances, she wonder how it will be impossible for her to defy her boss's directive..

Among the allegation was the foreign trip by all members of the management which the Rector said it is not true that management member has been using their personal money for the journey. it is believe that earlier agreement between the rector and the union will solution to the problem.
