IGP EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER KILLING OF POLICE OFFICERS BY GUNMEN, PROMISES TO UNMASKED KILLERS OF RETIRED DIG, ABUBAKAR NINGI

The Police high command has expressed concern over what it called reckless killing of police officers on duty by unidentified gunmen in the country.

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar who met with State Commissioners and other Senior police officers in Abuja, hinted that his men were already after the gunmen who allegedly killed Abubakar Saleh Ningi, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police in Kano.

He vowed to unmasked those behind the dastardly act and  check the increasing wave of terrorism, communal clashes, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the country.

To strengthen crime management and patrol of the nation's highways, the Inspector General said the government has placed an order for the purchase of 300 patrol vehicles.

The force high command also gave a matching order to the Commissioners of Police in charge of Ondo and Osun states to dismantle some illegal road blocks currently use by their men to extort money from motorists, adding that the force would henceforth beef up its crime monitoring and patrol  along Lagos-Shagamu-Benin highway following reported menace of armed bandits in the area.
