Chief of Army Staff Calls Public Support to Defeat Terrorism

Chief of Army staff, Onyeabo Ihejirika, says there is a compelling need for the civil populace to be unrelenting in its support for the Nigeria Army to defeat Terrorism.

The Army chief, who was speaking in Abuja, at the flag off of activities marking this year's Nigerian Army Day celebration, say this was imperative as terrorism remains the nation's common enemy.

Ihejerika, who was represented by Major General Bitrus Kwaji, said despite the current security crisis in Kaduna and some other parts of the country, the Nigerian Army  is fully resolved to protect lives and property.

As a demonstration of this,  the 2012 Army Day celebration is to hold in the troubled Kaduna state.

The highpoint of the ceremony will be the unveiling of the Nigerian Built Armoured Personnel Career, combat Airborne Jump and Helicopter Repelling.

The theme of this year's celebration is 'Partnering the Civil Society Towards Improved Security'
