SPECIAL TASKFORCE, STF QUELL FILM PROTEST IN JOS



 Youth in some parts of Jos who attempted to protest against a US-made film which mocks Islam were prevented from embarking on the protest by men of the special task force, STF, deployed to keep the peace in Plateau state after the Friday Jummat prayers.

Media and information officer of the taskforce, Salisu Mustapha, said men of the taskforce will remain in areas considered as flash points untill the peace of the areas is guaranteed

 He commended Muslim religious leaders in the state forcalling on all Muslims to remain calm and to be guided by the teneants of their faith which promote peace

 Spokesman of the Muslim Ummah in Plateau state, Sani Mudi told our correspondent that Imams and other religious leaders were advised to concentrate on preaching peace, while the youths were told to shun whatever protests as the film in question was not done by Nigerians
The Muslim leader said the peculiarity of the security situation in Jos does not permit any such protest if the relative peace being experienced in the city is to be maintained
There were sporadic gun shots in some parts of the city Friday afternoon
