Bayelsa Govt.to establish Cassava Farm and Processing Plant


The Bayelsa State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Danish Company for the establishment of a Cassava Farm and Plant for processing starch in the state.

Speaking at the signing ceremony at the Government House in Yenagoa,the state Deputy Governor John Jonah noted that the partnership is an opportunity to add value to the Cassava product which serves as an important source of food for the people.

John Jonah said the establishment of a Cassava processing plant in the state will encourage the production of the crop.

He stated that the factories to be built will create job opportunities and support the manpower development needs of the state.

The Deputy Governor noted that the dearth of industries in the state is responsible for the low Gross Domestic Product(GDP) index in the state as compared to other states of the Federated.
