President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night met with Governors from the Northern States to discuss issues of security and flooding especially in the region
Speaking with newsmen at State House, Abuja after the one hour meeting, Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu said issues of flooding in the states as it affects food security was discussed at the meeting
The Governors also reviewed the security situation in the country although its is not clear if they presented to President Jonathan strategies they had resolved to evolve that would address the spate of terrorist attacks which seemed to be concentrated in the Northern part of the country
At the meeting were Governors of Bauchi, Jigawa, Benue, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Kano, Borno while six other states were represented by their deputies
Governors of Sokoto and Taraba states were absent at the meeting which was probably called by the President to also deliberate on the unemployment and wealth creation especially as it affected the region
