The second floor of the National Assembly Annex building was this afternoon gutted by fire.
Fire broke out on the second floor of the building which houses the Legal and Accounts departments of the National Assembly Service Commission.
In an effort to quickly put out the fire, the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service deployed two fire engines to bring the fire under control before it spreads to other offices even as panic-stricken staff vacated the building for safety.
Speaking on the incidence, Director of FCT Fire Service, Sani Saidu told newsmen that the fire incident was caused by power outage as a result of power fluctuation, assuring that no damage was done.
Correspondent Tijani Yinusa reports that a similar fire incident occurred last year December at the office the Clerk of the National Assembly which was attributed to electrical fault.
The National Assembly management is yet to issue official statement on the cause of the latest fire incident.
