NUJ Pickets Champion Newspaper

Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists have commenced a three-day picketing of the Champion Newspaper over non-payment of over twelve months salary arrears.

The placard carrying members led by the Lagos State Council Chairman of the union, DEJI ELUMOYE blocked the entrance of the newspaper house at Ilasa along Oshodi-Apapa expressway.

ELUMOYE accused the management of the organisation of not being sincere with the staff, adding that what the union particular about is the payment of the outstanding arrears of salaries and other entitlements.

For their parts, the Zonal Secretary of the union, Gbenga Lawal and the chairman of the champion branch, Ikechi Elenwoke said the workers have suffered serious economic hardship over the last one year, adding that many others have died within the period.
