The trial of alleged mastermind of
the Christmas day bombing ,Kabiru Umar,continued today at the Federal High
Court in Abuja.
Cross examination of the suspect commenced today
in the trial which is held in camera.
The suspect, also known as Kabiru sokoto
denied being a member of Boko Haram sect, a group that has claimed
responsibility for several violent attacks in the country.
However the court has now admitted evidence
indicating the suspect is a top leader of the group and was in charge of a cell
in sokoto state.
The prosecution also fielded a witness who told
the court that the suspect had confessed that his group received funding from
an extremist organisation based in Algeria.
Sokoto, who has been denied bail, will remain in
custody of the State Security Service.
