The Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside last year's
de-registration of the Fresh Democratic Party by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Presiding
Judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, who struck out INEC's action of December
6th 2012, berated the Commission for taking such action without giving the
party a hearing.
The
court also accused the National Assembly of engaging in legislative despotism by
amending the 2010 Electoral Act which gave INEC powers to de-register political
parties.
